The Chilton Song -oh yes
If you’ve ever been to Lubbock, Texas, you might know that a Chilton is more than just a drink—it’s a tradition. This cocktail was born at the county club in Lubbock, a town I proudly call one of my hometowns. My best Chilton memories are from The Blue Light Live, where I shared many laughs and Chiltons with my dear friend Jacey. Jacey and I perfected this Chilton recipe so you can recreate those belly-laughing good times wherever you are – Whether you’re entertaining your mother-in-law or your best friend, this drink is the perfect companion.
The Secret Ingredients:
Vodka: The obvious choice of vodka for this drink is Tito’s because it’s also Texas-made. You can also run into Costco or Sam’s and get a Kirkland vodka. If you live in Colorado or anywhere you can get ahold of it, I recommend 10th Mountain Vodka. Finally, if you want to spice it up, I love making a Chilton with raspberry Western Son’s vodka.
Lemons: Freshly squeezed organic lemons from your local grocery store are the best option, but if you are feeling lazy like I always am, RealLemon juice is a great option.
The Chilton Recipe:
Ingredients:
🌴Ice
🌴 1 Lemon
🌴 Two fingers of vodka (or one shot)
🌴 1 tablespoon of salt or tajin
🌴A bottle of Topo Chico
Instructions:
- Rim the Glass: Grab your favorite cup—be it a mason jar, coffee mug, Yeti cup, or even a red solo cup. Line the bottom of a bowl with salt or Tajin. Cut the lemon into quarters and rub a slice around the rim of your glass, then roll it in the salt.
- Fill the Glass: Fill your glass with ice, then pour in three fingers of vodka.
- Mix It Up: Squeeze the lemon quarters into the glass and top it off with Topo Chico.
- Enjoy: Stir it up and enjoy your Chilton, whether you’re toasting to good times past or creating new memories.
